We have compiled a list of all wedding-related stationery to help you get an idea of what you may want and need to plan your wedding. We have also included general guidelines for how, when, and where to order and use the stationery.

Save the Dates:
A pre-invitation mailing that announces your wedding date and informs your guests that they are invited.
Order: 8 months before the wedding
Send: 6 months before the wedding, 8 months if you're doing a destination wedding
Invitations:
The centerpiece of your wedding stationery, the invitation sets the tone and theme of your wedding.
Order: 3-4 months before the wedding
Send: 6-8 weeks before the wedding
*Reply Cards: Sent with your wedding invitations as a postcard or with a self-addressed envelope so that your guests can respond
*Reception Cards: Sent with the wedding invitation, informing guests where the reception will be held (if different from the ceremony)
*Other Enclosures: Also sent with the wedding invitation, these cards can include a map and directions or accommodation information
Programs:
Wedding programs are both useful and a fun momento for your guests. The programs typically include the date, the order of the ceremony, the wedding party's names and possibly relationship with the couple, titles of readings and songs and can also include a note of thanks or words to honor a deceased loved one.
Menu Cards:
Menu cards are set at the table so your guests know what they are about to be served.
Escort Cards/Place Cards:
Place cards inform guests which chair to sit in and escort cards direct them to the table at which they are seated.
Thank You Cards:
These handwritten notes should thank your guest for gifts given and/or presence at your wedding.
Order: With your wedding invitations
Send: No later than eight weeks for gifts received at the wedding. For the gifts received ahead of time, you should send thank you cards immediately.
